Aloha Festivals 2019 Opening Ceremony
The Aloha Festivals 2019 Opening Ceremony took place on August 31 at the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki. Attendees witnessed a ceremony modeled after those of ancient Hawai‘i, where the newly-chosen royal court will don their colorful traditional cloaks, helmets, head feather lei and other symbols of their reign. Following the Investiture, the attendees observed traditional hula, chants and musical performances will make for a spectacular evening in the heart of Waikīkī.
Aloha Festivals was first held in 1946 as Aloha Week, and over the past six decades has become a celebration of Hawaiian culture, integrating the traditions and cultures of the Islands through music, dance, cuisine and art.
