Makua and Kila Statue

Makua and Kila is a statue and water fountain in Kuhio Beach in Waikiki depicting a surfer boy and a monk seal. The statue’s sculpture is Holly Young, a resident of Kauai. Ms. Young’s sculptures may be found in public and private collections throughout Hawaii and around the world. The Makua and Kila water fountain was commissioned by the City and County of Honolulu.

The Makua and Kila sculpture can be found at the beach side intersection of Kalakaua Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue in Waikiki, near the Waikiki Wall (Kapahulu Groin). It is located across the street from Kapiolani Park and the Honolulu Zoo.
