10th Annual Rice Fest

The 10th Annual Rice Fest in Honolulu was held on Saturday, September 28 in conjunction with National Rice Month. This unique, one day event will be held at Ward Village’s Victoria Ward Park and featured a day of fun, entertainment, food, and much more.

Among the activities at the Rice Fest were musical performance by 14-time-Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winner Mark Yamanaka; Ukulele performance by Honoka and Ukulele Hale. Eating contest; Taiko Drumming performance by Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko Hawaii; Ukulele performance by Karlie Goya; Cooking Demonstration with La Tour Cafe’s Chef Chris Gee and Hawaii News Now’s Stephanie Lum; Beatboxing performance by Jason Tom; AirAsia ticket raffle to Taiwan; Third Annual Loco Moco Eating Competition, presented by Rainbow Drive-In; Tenth Annual SPAM Musubi Eating Competition, presented by L&L Hawaii; Fifth Annual Poke Bowl Eating Competition, presented by Jun’s Awesome Hot Sauce, featuring Poke Bowls from Chef Chai, and Lion Dance performance by Asian Lion Dance Team

Rice Fest 2019 featured over thirty food vendors, including Burgers on Bishop, Goma Tei Hawaii, Sweet Creams, Jamba Juice, Got’z Grindz, Da Hub, Unagi Don, Seoul Mix 2.0, Ulu’s Lemonade, The Pig & The Lady, Ganesh Dosa, Lanakila Pacific Famous Baked Goods, Hawaiian Honey Cones, Maile’s Thai Bistro, Nohea’s Kitchen, Love and Limes, Dillingham Saimin, The Rice Factory, Tatsuo’s, Off the Hook Poke Market, Rainbow Drive-In, Yum Sap, Wahoos Hawaii, Heart to Table, Uncle Lani’s Poi Mochi, Poke for the People Express, Jun’s Awesome Hot Sauce, Zach’s Event Catering, and Two Ladies Kitchen

One of the primary initiatives for this event is to bring awareness to Lanakila Meals on Wheels, a wonderful program that helps to feed Hawaii’s hungry seniors.
